If everyone lived "With our future in mind," do you think that we would live different? (Different habits, behaviors, etc.)
Of course. People would not smoke, have unprotected sex, drive while drunk, or do anything that would indanger their lives. If everyone lived with "our" future in mind, things would be better for "everyone". When I eat, I think about how healthy the food is to my body. When I go outside, I avoid smoking environments, and when I encounter any relationship, I think of positive, the future and how "our" life will be betterd after meeting. I think it is good that people at a certain age take responsibility for their future, because that is what the future is. Something to look forward to with responsibility, with a great level of control based on choices, and the better choices, the better future right? Right. I understand that people just want to have fun and enjoy their lives, but there are times when one should always be considering their actions with the future in mind. The establishment of this usually occurs when one enters college, and begins to live on their own with out their parents. This is the time when teenagers/young adults should be living and always acting with their "future in mind".

I agree this future thinking should happen when students enter college actually way before that. The big problem seems to be that as adults people are still not thinking this way. Somewhere in the "its time to grow up chain” this perspective is not longer being taught or modeled. I had not really thought about this until now...and it seems to be one of the biggest detriments in our society.
As society we are suffering from the backlash of the “live for today and don’t worry about tomorrow” attitude that is inundating our culture. I think the consumableness of products in our culture just add to the nature of this syndrome. Everything…nearly, can just be thrown away and another product purchased in its place. Maybe we need a good old fashioned depression for a wake up call.
Interesting subject to blog about…
I too agree that thinking about future in everyday living would better things for "everyone". It could keep people from becoming too hostile, angry, sad, or depressed. Everyone could eat and work better to ensure a healthier, longer life. I am sure if people thought of every consequence of actions they did then they would change to help better their futures. Either to grow closer to others, life healthier, stay happier, and try to accumulate wealth to live a stress free way instead of stressing where to work or what to do.
Great post! This is definately an area where young adults should take an active part in listening to the advice of their elders. In the younger years, we are all about the here, now, and instant gratification. Thinking about the future and preparing for it comes with maturation and evolving.
